Charles A. Wambier was born on 1921. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II as a Flight Officer in the 358th Fighter Squadron, 355th Fighter Group. He entered the service in Illinois. F/O Wambier was Killed in Action on December 30, 1943 at around 1445 while piloting P-47D #42-75425 YF-U, lost near Reims in combat with two Me 109s. He is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France.
