"Oran Harold Stalcup was the son of Clarence Lester Stalcup and Atha Thompson Stalcup. He was the first of their two sons. He is the brother to Edsel "Ed" Lester.

Oran Stalcup joined the Army Air Corp from California and served in the 354th Fighter Squardron in the 355th Fighter Group.

On February 10, 1945 1st Lt Stalcup was engaged in air combat over the English Channel when his P51-D aircraft, "Jolly Roger", was hit by enemy fire. 1st Lt Stalcup ditched his aircraft in the English Channel. Upon search there was no sign of 1st Lt Stalcup or his body and he was reported as KIA (Killed In Action). For his heroism he was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Clusters and the Purple Heart.

His body has never been recovered."

He is memorialized at Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He also has a marker at West Side District Cemetery, Taft, Kern County, California, USA.
