George Wesley Phillips was born on March 26, 1921. 1Lt Phillips was assigned to the 357th Fighter Squadron, 355th Fighter Group in 1944. He was killed in action on 6 June 1944 piloting P-51B (43-6640) OSH, hit by flak near Mailleraye. He hit the tail assembly of his Mustang by skydiving and hit the ground without opening his parachute, probably unconscious after the impact. He is now buried in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA.
