William H. Momberger was born on January 2, 1922. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II as a First Lieutenant in the 357th Fighter Squadron, 355th Fighter Group. He entered the service in New York. He was killed in action on March 9, 1944 flying the P-51B (43-6654) OS E. He crashed near Bassingbourne during the formation assembly. He is now buried in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, Herkimer County, New York, USA.
